Arathusa Safari Lodge

Arathusa Safari Lodge Intimate environment & warm hospitality in the    untamed African bush..
Sabi Sands Reserve, Greater Kruger

Arathusa Safari Lodge an enchanting lodge which lies within the world renowned Sabi Sand Private Reserve, adjacent to the unfenced Kruger National Park. Guests to Arathusa are treated to an exceptional wildlife experience, including the prized "Big Five" - the lion, leopard, rhino, elephant and buffalo.

These formidable species earned their reputations as the most dangerous animals to be hunted on foot. The phrase "Big Five" was coined by hunters of yesteryear - before the advent of the photographic safari. With exceptional sightings of leopard (usually the most elusive of cats), lion and rhino during game drives - visitors are never lacking in exciting photographic content.

There is so much more to The African Safari than the Big Five. A veritable collection of smaller creatures add colour to the safari experience. And one need not leave the comfort of the camp to see massive herds of buffalo, antelope and elephant families which gather at the camp's waterhole. Arathusa's waterhole is its signature feature. There is never a lack of activity at the water's edge!

Arathusa has both standard rooms and luxury rooms tucked into the untamed African bush. The camp is completely open-plan and flanks a mammoth waterhole which pulses with animal activity. Recently built is a new luxury spa overlooking the waterhole. A wide choice of treatments are on offer to soothe the body, relax the mind, and indulge the senses. Two therapists are on duty at all times so that couples can enjoy their treatments in tandem. This is the perfect location for the nature enthusiast who seeks an intimate environment and warm hospitality at an affordable daily rate.

The camp is an intimate one, completely open-plan and designed to harmoniously blend with the adjacent waterhole and African bush. Wood and thatch, air and water – an extension of the natural environment. The main living area is intended for comfort. Whether quietly reflecting on the view; reading a good book; enjoying compatible banter with friends or fellow safari go-ers - the warmth and charm of the camp environment is the foundation of the Arathusa safari experience. An infinity swimming pool overlooks the waterhole and is the perfect spot for wildlife viewing on a smoldering African summer’s afternoon. A traditional open-air boma (brick & grass enclosed dining area) presents guests with a novel way of appreciating an enjoyable meal under the stars to the sounds of the African wild.
