Inyati means buffalo in Shangaan /Tsonga which is one of the languages of the local people. IInyati is home to this powerful, indomitable breed.
Inyati consists of seven luxury chalets and four executive chalets. Each air-conditioned chalet features en-suite bathroom with twin hand basins, separate bath, shower and w.c. The lodge accommodates 25 guests in total.
Meals can be enjoyed on the open patio area (verandah) overlooking the Sand River. A combination of traditional South African and International dishes are always on the menu. Experience a traditional South African braai (barbeque) under a blanket of stars in the heart of the bushveld. The crackling fire, friendly conversation and delicious food add to the excitement of hearing a lion’s roar in the distance. A traditional African setting where unique delicacies are prepared on an open fire. Enjoy the friendly company of your ranger while being entertained with bushveld stories and experiences. The rhythmic beat of a traditional African dance will entertain guests while aromas of food being prepared on the open fire fill the night sky.
During your stay at Inyati, you are likely to spot a great variety of wildlife, including species such as leopard, lion, rhino, large herds of buffalo, elephant, reedbuck, hyena, hippopotamus, nyala, cheetah, wild dogs and many types of birds. At Inyati the days are designed to thrill you with intimate wildlife encounters and the nights to delight you with the indulgence and romance of the African night. View Africa’s most impressive wildlife on morning and afternoon/ evening game drives in open 4-wheel drive safari vehicles with expert guides and Shangaan trackers. Game drives traverse an area of 10 000 hectares (24 700 acres) and strict vehicle limits at sighting ensure the exclusivity of your game viewing experience. Off-road driving ensures that you have the best possible view of any exceptional sighting and guides are constantly in touch with each other to keep track of animal movements.
Inyati does offer interpretive guided bush walks for guests over the age of 16 years. Should you wish to enjoy a walk, we recommend that you combine your walk with your morning drive. Please discuss this with your guide, to accommodate your request. If you are walking, please ensure that you wear neutral colours and comfortable walking shoes.
Inyati also offers fishing as an extra activity between game drive times. All fishing equipment is supplied by the Lodge. Fishing is done in the Sand River and at the causeway. Guests’ safety is paramount, and they are always accompanied by an armed ranger or tracker. There are over 37 species of fish in the Sand River – the most common ones being: • Sharp tooth Catfish (Barbel) • Mozambique Tlipia (Bream) • Squeakers • Tigerfish • Small Mouth Yellowfish • Mudfish Apart from the relaxing aspect of fishing, it is a glorious way to be at one with the bush, listening to the chirping of the various bird species or the sounds of hippos in the distance.
